Terms of Membership & Criteria for Registration

Membership entitles Registered Dance Movement Psychotherapists (DMPs) to practise within a variety of clinical fields. Members also receive a monthly bulletin with updates, resource links and CPD information. A list of the benefits of membership with ADMP UK are listed here. 

The Professional Register consists of names of individuals who are recognised by ADMP UK as competent and licenced to practise to work as professional DMPs. There is also a Student Register which lists those who are currently training to be a DMP. These have been established to safeguard the quality and standards of the Dance Movement Psychotherapy profession in the UK for the benefit of its members and the public.

  • It was established to safeguard the quality and standards of the DMP profession in the UK for the benefit of both its members and the public
  • Registered practitioners are considered competent to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • ADMP UK keeps separate registers of professional members and student members     

 

 

Code of Ethics and Professional Practice

As a summary:

  • Defines standards of professional conduct for DMPs
  • Is binding on all practising members of ADMP UK
  • Includes the guiding principle that DMPs shall always act in the best interests of the client

Continuing Professional Development Guidelines & CPD log template

As a summary:

  • All professionally registered DMPs are required to complete a minimum of 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) each year and to keep records of these activities
  • CPD is a central requirement for continued professional registration
