Research

Research holds an important place in furthering the informed work within Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP), and it occurs at different levels within clinicians’ practice.

Dance Movement Psychotherapists may use research to inform their own work, for instance to evaluate processes and outcomes. Research findings are disseminated through conference presentations and publications, in which both new and existing systems can be explored.

Topics of DMP research can include evaluation and effectiveness of clinical practice, the client/therapist relationship, the place of DMP within a particular cultural frame, or clients’ perception of the DMP process. Research studies in the field use a variety of methodologies including qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and arts-based approaches.

ADMP UK’s Research sub-committee is in place to support members by

  • advising on ethics
  • responding to NICE guidelines on evidence-based guidance
  • responding to research related opportunities as they arise
If you have already been granted ethical approval, and would like to make a call out via ADMP for participants, please download and fill out our Research Proforma by clicking the link below..
